Kraft<\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">]\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Eine Werksbesichtigung der besonderen Art durfte der Chemie-Leistungskurs 12 im Lanxess-Werk Uerdingen (ehemals Bayer) erleben. Im Mittelpunkt des Besuchs stand eine F\u00fchrung durch das Chromoxid-Werk, das zur Sparte der anorganischen Farbmittel (Pigmente) z\u00e4hlt. Chromoxid als gr\u00fcnes Farbpigment wird beispielsweise zur Herstellung von Farben und Lacken oder zur F\u00e4rbung von Keramiken eingesetzt.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Die Produktion des Chromoxids hat es allerdings in sich. Betriebsleiterin Dr. Ulrike Pitzer stellte den Syntheseprozess des Farbmittels zun\u00e4chst in einem einf\u00fchrenden Vortrag vor. Als Ausgangsstoff wird Natriumdichromat eingesetzt \u2013 eine nicht ganz unproblematische Verbindung, ist sie doch als giftig und krebserzeugend eingestuft. Da verwundert es nicht, dass Ma\u00dfnahmen zur Arbeitssicherheit einen hohen Stellenwert im Chromoxid-Werk genie\u00dfen. Natriumdichromat reagiert in einem Ofen mit Schwefel und bildet auf diese Weise das gr\u00fcne Chromoxid, welches wiederum v\u00f6llig unbedenklich ist und nach weiteren Reinigungsschritten in gro\u00dfer Menge ausgeliefert wird.<\/p>\n<p>Nach dem Mittagessen in der Betriebskantine konnten alle Anlagen unter F\u00fchrung von Frau Dr. Pitzer und ihren Mitarbeitern in Kleingruppen besichtigt werden \u2013 gut gesch\u00fctzt, versteht sich. So bekamen alle Teilnehmer zun\u00e4chst Kittel, Schutzbrille, Helm und Handschuhe ausgeh\u00e4ndigt. Anschlie\u00dfend begann der Rundgang in der Natriumdichromat-Anlieferung. Dort lagern Tonnen des hochgiftigen Stoffs, der f\u00fcr Experimente in der Schule l\u00e4ngst nicht mehr eingesetzt werden darf. Mit einer ausgekl\u00fcgelten Technik wird jedoch verhindert, dass Mitarbeiter mit diesem Salz in Kontakt kommen k\u00f6nnen. Anschlie\u00dfend wird das Natriumdichromat zusammen mit Schwefel dem Ofen als \u201eHerzst\u00fcck\u201c der Anlage zugef\u00fchrt. Dort reagieren die Stoffe in einem wirklichen H\u00f6llenfeuer zum Produkt Chromoxid. Abgerundet wird der Herstellungsprozess durch Anlagen zur Reinigung und zum Recycling der Abfallprodukte.<\/p>\n<p>Begeistert von den Einblicken in die Praxis der angewandten Chemie traten die Kursteilnehmer am Nachmittag die Heimreise nach Siegen an.
